Spa-Tained

Spa-Tained
Baby it’s cold outside…and time to jump in the hot tub and enjoy the hot water and bubbling jets. But before you spend the cooler evenings soaking in the spa it is important to make sure you are following the proper precautions and maintenance tips necessary to keep it in pristine condition.
  • Familiarize yourself with your hot tubs operation manual and utilize the freeze protection system if you live in an area that is more prone to freezing.
  • Keep an eye on your spas water level. If your water level goes down too far the pump may shut off causing the water to not circulate and possibly cause your spa to freeze.
  • Make sure to drain your hot tub or spa down and clean it out during times of higher use to avoid skin irritation or excess buildup of chloramines in the water.
  • Check and balance the water chemistry often and keep the sanitizer levels up. Also, check and clean your hot tub filters regularly. Water and Pool Solutions can ensure you have the proper supplies stocked up.
  • Replace your cover if it is waterlogged, deteriorated, torn or leaking. Make sure the cover fits snuggly around the hot tub. A good cover is essential for keeping debris and pollutants out of your hot tub. Heating costs can be reduced with a good cover, as it will increase insulation. It is also recommended that you use a thermal blanket underneath the cover, which will retain all the water heat inside the tub.
  • Monitor your water temperature especially in very cold weather to ensure your heater is working properly. Remember that it cost less to maintain the water temperature in a controlled environment than to let the water get very cold and then blast the heat. The colder it is, the longer it will take to heat up your spa. To maintain the water temperature of your hot tub during the winter season, Water & Pool Solutions can upgrade your hot tub from air operation to digital operation. A digital control allows you to pre-select the spa temperature.
Water & Pool Solutions can maintain your hot tub on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis this winter. Our hot tub and spa services include draining, cleaning and refilling and balancing your hot tub as needed. We also offer repair services for most brands of hot tubs and return them to peak operating performance. Call us today and we will provide a free estimate.
