Opening Your Pool For The Season

Getting a pool ready for summer can seem like a monumental task, but luckily, it is one of our specialties at Water and Pool Solutions. We know that it’s the big day of the year for any pool owner, so we have compiled a simple list of do’s and don’ts to ensure that your grand summer pool opening is a complete success--and a relatively painless procedure. Here are some of our top simple, yet often missed, steps:

Clean the cover

This one gets missed often, usually because of inconvenience. After you’ve gotten the pool cover off, it can be tempting to dive right in, metaphorically speaking, and start cleaning the pool. But don’t forget to take care of that cover first! The last thing you want to see at the end of the season is a nasty, damaged cover because you were in a hurry. There are many cover cleaning solutions you can get that don’t require you to dry the cover out before storing. This would be the best route, but a brush and car cleaning detergent also work. Just be sure that if you go with car cleaner, you thoroughly dry out the cover before storing it away in order to prevent rot.

Check related equipment

The pool isn’t the only thing you and your family will be using this summer to enjoy a swim. Slides, diving boards, ladders, lights, and railings are all parts of the pool too! Be sure to thoroughly check over all of these items for damage and wear before you use them. This is especially important for keeping the kids safe once the pool is open.

Have the pool professionally balanced

Yes, Water and Pool Solutions can be called to perform all of the duties involved in getting the pool ready for summer. However, if you plan to do it yourself, this would be the service we would highly recommend. Let us handle the chemistry and get your pool perfectly balanced. That way, your family can rest at ease and enjoy a safe and carefree swimming environment.

Start early

Don’t wait until summer is fully here and baking the pavement to get your pool ready. First of all, why would anyone want to be out in the heat of summer fixing up a pool? Start process on a cool weekend instead. The second reason is due to algae. algae loves warm air! So don’t wait too long or that hot vat of water will start getting out of hand very quickly!

We hope some of these little tips come in handy as you get that big day underway. Don’t forget to contact Water and Pool Solutions if you have any questions or problems. We are happy to help. Our number is 334-264-2700. And we are located at  401 Randolph Street, Montgomery AL.
